Generation 1 – Chapter 8: My Ashton is so different.

All thing was working out very well at home now. When Dahlia and Ashton where at school and Buck sleeping i used my spare time playing with or teaching the twins their skill. Carmelo loved to learn something new while Iris was more quiet and just wanted to play.

Ashton was really good at school. Maybe the best in his class. When he not was helping Dahlia with her homework, he was making homework with the rich kids from school. Many days he also went over there instead of inviting them with him home. He never wanted to join our fishing trips or playing in the garden, only being indoors i couldnt understand.

One day when the kids where inside making there homework Mother came over to visit.

“Im glad to see you happy my dear, you really got nice children, and your garden must make a very good profit now.”

“Yeah its getting better Mother but it cant pay the bills alone.”
“You should have Buck quitting his job, then you could expand the garden, and you could make money with fishing besides the garden.”
“But Buck is so proud of his work at the mausoleum, and he still helps me in the garden.”
“The mausoleum is no good for you or your family my dear, the best would be if you make him quit.”

 

I walked inside to take care of the screaming Carmelo. Why did my Mother still try to control my life. Wasnt it enough that she controlled who Derreck could be together with? I was mad, i knew what i was doing, with the help from Bucks job we could manage the bills and our four children where happy.

A day when the Dahlia and Ashton came home from school Ashton rushed me to finish feeding the twins then he wanted to talk business with me as he called it.

“Mother, i want my own room with a computer for my birthday,” he said, “its important so i can learn more.”

“My dear, building is expensive and we can afford a computer. Ill talk to your father about the room but not more.”

“Mom he asked me after a while then, Dahlia is out fishing and father sleeping, can we go to the library i have to look up something for school.”
Dahlia was so happy being outside eather painting, fishing or gardening that i didnt had any concern about her. But Ashton got me worried. But it was better going with him than letting him go to the city by himself so we took to the library.

 

At the library Ashton told me about that I could use a computer there for typing in the things i had written down on paper about my generation, the life in our house so my grand grandchildren could read it. I started typing. I didnt like the modern way of doing all things but this was smart. You could save it so it would never get lost and you could put it out on paper too.

What I didnt know was the real reason why Ashton wanted to come to the library. For months now his sister and him had been teased at school. Not only for their skin color but also for their father. After he overheard a conversation between Mother and Father when he visited my sister Winter, he wanted to find out more about Buck and his storie.
